What Vitamins & Minerals Are Used For Sleep, Recovery, And Muscle Growth?
At PROCEED we’re science based. That means you can trust every ingredient in our PROCEED Sleep formulation was deeply researched before being used. It also means we stand by our ingredients & dosing. Here’s the breakdown of the 2,528 milligrams found in our PROCEED Sleep & its supporting documentation:
Ginger root - 500mg** (Zingiber officinale)
(5:1 concentration)
Ginger root has been clinically shown to improve hip to waist ratio, shown to protect against liver disease, reduce inflammation and improves digestion. Studies show it reduces muscle soreness as well as aids in physical performance recovery in athletes. (see: The effects of ginger intake on weight loss and metabolic profiles among overweight and obese subjects: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials - PubMed (nih.gov))
White kidney bean – 300mg** (Phaseolus vulgaris) (5:1 concentration)
White kidney bean has been suggested to inhibit the enzyme α-amylase, limiting carbohydrate digestion and absorption with meaningful attendant beneficial effects on body weight and metabolic health. In studies, after 30 days, subjects receiving Phaseolus vulgaris extract with a carbohydrate-rich, 2000- to 2200-calorie diet had significantly (p<0.001) greater reduction of body weight, BMI, fat mass, adipose tissue thickness, and waist, /hip/ thigh circumferences while maintaining lean body mass compared to subjects receiving placebo. The results indicate that Phaseolus vulgaris extract produces significant decrements in body weight and suggest decrements in fat mass in the face of maintained lean body mass. (see: Regular intake of white kidney beans extract (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) induces weight loss compared to placebo in obese human subjects - PMC (nih.gov))
Curcumin - 400mg** (Curcuma longa) (root) (5:1 concentration)
(standardized to minimum 95% tetrahydrocurcuminoids)
Evidence supports the activity of curcumin in promoting weight loss and reducing the incidence of obesity-related diseases. With the discovery that obesity is characterized by chronic low-grade metabolic inflammation, phytochemicals like curcumin which have anti-inflammatory activity are being intensely investigated. Recent scientific research reveals that curcumin directly interacts with white adipose tissue to suppress chronic inflammation, which can lead to healthier body composition. (see: Curcumin and obesity - PubMed (nih.gov))
Cayenne extract – 400mg** (Capsicum annuum) (pepper) (40,000 HU)
The potential mechanisms underlying the anti-obesity effects of capsaicin include:
- increase lipid oxidation and inhibit adipogenesis
- activate BAT activity and induce thermogenesis
- suppress appetite and increase satiety regulated by neuronal circuits in the hypothalamus
- modulate the function of gastrointestinal tract and gut microbiome
These benefits make capsaicin an important addition to the MetaBoost Sleep Support formula. (see: Dietary capsaicin and its anti-obesity potency: from mechanism to clinical implications - PMC (nih.gov))
Melatonin - 3mg**
It was observed that melatonin plays an important role in glycemic homeostasis, in addition to modulation of white adipose tissue activity and lipid metabolism, and mitochondrial activity. Additionally, melatonin increases brown adipose tissue volume and activity, and its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties have also been demonstrated. There appears to be a role for melatonin in adiposity reduction (see: Melatonin supplementation in the management of obesity and obesity-associated disorders: A review of physiological mechanisms and clinical applications | Request PDF (researchgate.net))
Myo-inositol – 700mg**
(see: Inositol: Health Benefits, Safety Information, Dosage, and More (webmd.com))
Passionflower – 200mg** (Passiflora incarnata)
(10:1)
Vitamin B-6 – 25mg 1,471% (as Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate)
Vitamin B6 assists in the metabolic functions associated with protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism. It also assists in the formation of red blood cells and neurotransmitters. Human research also shows a beneficial effect of B6 in preventing heart disease, by reducing high homocysteine levels that lead to narrowing of arteries. (see: Vitamin B-6 - Mayo Clinic)
